Destination Highlight
Underwater Temple Garden
Created in 2005 as part of the local “Reef Gardener” community and the Pemuteran Karang Lestari Coral Conservation project, it was strategically built to stimulate coral growth and create an artificial reef. The site is an impressive underwater art installation that features over ten large stone statues, including figures of deities like Ganesha, and a full-sized, four-meter-high traditional Balinese candi bentar (split gate). The statues are beautifully colonized by vibrant coral and sponges, attracting abundant marine life and making it a popular and highly photogenic spot for divers.
Natural Tranquility
The surrounding national park (Taman Nasional Bali Barat) provides an exclusive terrestrial adventure. Visitors can embark on guided trekking, cycling, or birdwatching tours. Or maybe a relaxing recharge as the area offers several cultural and wellness sites for a tranquil escape.
Pristine Diving Spots
The primary draw is the pristine underwater environment of Menjangan Island, often cited as Bali’s best diving and snorkeling destination. Divers are attracted to its crystal-clear visibility, spectacular coral reefs, and dramatic vertical wall dives.
Marine Conservation Hub
Within the neighboring Pemuteran Bay is a sustainable tourism hub famous for the Bio-Rock coral restoration project, where visitors can snorkel or dive around artificial reefs and the unique Underwater Temple Garden as highlighted above.
